National scenario

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY ) has identified

blockchain technology as one of the important research areas with application

potential in different domains such as governance, banking and finance,

cybersecurity, and so on.

National efforts: Applications Developed and Piloted.

MeitY

MeitY has supported a multi-institutional proj ect titled “Distributed Centre of

Excellence in Blockchain Technology” with C-DAC, Institute for

Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad,

and Veermata J ijabai Technological Institute (VJ TI), Mumbai as executing

agencies. As part of this initiative, agencies have carried out research on the

use of blockchain technology in various domains and developed proof-of-

concept solutions. A blockchain technology-based solution for property

registration has been developed and piloted at Shamshabad District, Telangana

State. Proof-of-concept solutions have been developed for enabling Cloud

security assurance; Central Know Y our Customers (CKY C), and trade

finance. Generic blockchain-based Proof-of Existence (PoE) Framework has

been developed to enable PoE for digital artifacts, used to check the integrity

of academic certificates, sale deed documents, MoU s, and so on. By using the

PoE framework, a solution has been developed to authenticate academic
